Source: Celiac Disease: A Challenge for All Physicians
You all know this is a joke right? You are all smart enough to know that there’s not a chance that 1 in 100 people today have a genetic disease that would have made their genetic ancestors lion food if they so much as looked at wheat, barley, or rye.
Especially since you know that humans evolved in the Fertile Crescent eating cereal grasses (beginning with
1: Emmer [wheat species, gluten]
2: Einkorn [wheat species, gluten]
3: Barley [just gluten]
4: And millet [the only one with no gluten] )
for close to 15 _thousand_ years. I mean you do believe that the human race is older than 600 years right? Or in the case of celiac “disease” the last 20 years right?
I am sure that you know that many paleo diet sites are snake oil salesman advertising ads right?
I mean you do know enough high school genetics to know what polyploidy is. And also to know that many, many, plants and _most_ of our food crops are polyploid and the fact that wheat is also polyploidy is pretty irrelevant with respect to gluten.
You all know this right! Okay I feel better. And oh so comfortable that it couldn’t possibly be the class of pesticides we were spraying on wheat.
