And if anyone is interested (which I’m sure they’re not) :-) complex one cannot just dump the electrons into the Matrix _you cannot have free electrons_ which is why we don’t get shocked by our electronic gizmos. And so complex one _must_ past those electrons to coenzyme Q

I studied bacteria, but the systems are exquisitely similar to those of our mitochondria.
This is also why some of us take antioxidants. The last step where the electrons are put on to oxygen to create water — if it makes a mistake it creates a reactive oxygen species not water which can damage our DNA
